Manufactured and mobile home locks
This is the part most locksmith websites skip, and it matters here.
Manufactured home doors are not built like site built doors. The doors are thinner, the frames are lighter, and they commonly use a combination entry unit where the handle and deadbolt are one integrated piece rather than two separate locks. A standard residential deadbolt from a hardware store frequently will not fit, and forcing one in weakens a door that was already the thinnest part of the home.
What we do:
- Replace and rekey combination entry handle sets built for manufactured homes
- Fit correct hardware for thinner doors rather than forcing residential parts
- Repair sagging doors where the latch no longer meets the strike
- Reinforce strikes into the actual frame rather than the trim
If you have already bought a lock that would not fit, that is the usual story. Bring it out and we will tell you whether it can work.
Older homes and worn hardware
Much of the site built housing here is decades old, and the locks often are too.
The usual picture is a deadbolt that needs lifting on the door to turn, a latch that no longer lines up, or a lock that has simply worn past adjustment. Some of it is serviceable. Some of it should be replaced, and we will tell you which without pretending everything needs replacing.
55 plus communities
Several communities here have their own gate or office procedures. Let us know when you call if we need to check in somewhere or be met, so we are not waiting at an entrance.
If a community office manages multiple units, that is property and community management work and is priced differently from a one off call.
What we get called for most here
Manufactured home lock replacement, rekeys, lockouts, worn deadbolt repair, and car keys.

North Fort Myers locksmith questions
Do you work on mobile and manufactured homes?
Yes. Manufactured home doors are thinner than site built doors and often use a combination handle and deadbolt unit rather than two separate locks, which is why standard hardware store deadbolts frequently will not fit. We carry hardware built for them.
My deadbolt only works if I lift the door. Can that be fixed?
Usually yes, and it is worth fixing before it fails completely. That symptom is almost always the door or frame having shifted so the bolt no longer lines up with the strike, rather than the lock itself being broken.
Do you need to check in with the community office?
Some communities require it. Tell us when you call and we will handle it, otherwise we can end up waiting at a gate while you are paying for the time.
